Perched here, high on the greenstone ridge, in the Whistling Eagle Vineyard pruning is complete, the vines have been tied down and the ancient Cambrian soils have begun to warm once more.
The first tiny green shoots have appeared upon the dormant vines. As the 2012 vintage begins its uncharted journey, it is time to reflect on the year gone by and announce the release of the 2009 vintage of Whistling Eagle wines.

"The 2006 Eagle's blood Shiraz was aged in French and American oak, 40% new. A glass-coating purple color, it exhibits a first class nose of wood smoke, mineral, earth notes, and blueberry. firm on the palate with excellent depth and grip, it reveals spicy, savory blue and black fruit flavours, good integration of oak, tannin, and acidity, and excellent length. Drink it from 2012 to 2021." |

"The 2005 Whistling Eagle Vineyard Sangiovese also showed really good varietal character. The floral nose, with raspberries and dried herbs, is right in target, and oak adds a touch of vanilla. It performs well on the palate, with the dry tannin astringency you'd expect but without any hollowness. 'Cherries, tobacco, chocolate and cedar', Caillard noted. 'Ripe flavour and loose-knit tannins, finishing cedary and dry'. It drinks beautifully now, and should do so for several years." |

"Showing huge concentration, the 2004 Whistling Eagle Vineyard Eagles Blood Shiraz has rich, dark plum flavors and spicy oak. Hooke noted 'spices and charcuterie. Quite punchy. I like the level of ripeness, which wasn't over the top'. This is a huge, full-bodied wine with masses of soft tannins." |

"Amazingly supple, generous and distinctive, with a range of mineral flavors enhancing the red berry and dark plum fruit, which expands exponentially along the long, sharply focused finish. The tannins are well-submerged. Best from 2009 through 2015" |
